Can you copyright yoga?!

According to the article below Mr. Bikram is suing our fellow yogis again… This is exactly why I have mixed feelings about Bikram Yoga. Don’t get me wrong I like it, I do (this is of course if the studio does not have carpet flooring; otherwise the smell is unbearable).. For sure it is challenging and fun but at the same time copyrighting it kind of egoistic, don’t you think?! Come on! I said this before, and I’ll say it again: it really does not make sense to me that yoga has become this huge industry which some people make insane amount of money out of it.. What happened to not letting the ego to lead the way?!!

Bikram yoga founder Bikram Choudhury has filed a lawsuit against Yoga to the People, a studio chain that offers donation-based yoga classes in New York, San Francisco, and Berkeley… The lawsuit seeks damages in excess of $1 million, and an injunction stopping Yoga to the People from offering the classes, according to DNAinfo.com. Read more here.

I guess some people might even argue that forcing your body to stay in such a heated room for such a long time should not even be considered as yoga either.. but that might be a topic to a different conversation.
